Welcome to Blissful Dots!

Hi, I am Sandy. I am a dotting enthusiast, art teacher, and the visionary behind Blissful Dots. I am also a proud grandma to three wonderful grandchildren, mama to two, cat mama, an avid geocacher, and crafty sewer. I love to experiment with different forms of creative expression but my greatest passion is dot painting.
I started my journey with this sacred art as an empty nester. I was seeking something I could create that would bring me a sense of joy and bliss – things I had felt often as a young girl.
My dad was a gifted artist and teacher of art all of his life (and get this, his name was Bob Ross! Not THE Bob Ross, but a very cool coincidence indeed.). From watercolor painting to pottery, he had a way of approaching art as though it was taking him on a journey, uncertain of the final destination and enchanted by the map that would reveal itself as he traveled.
Me on the other hand, used to struggle with perfectionism with traditional painting techniques. Trying to get a painting just right would often leave me feeling like a failure. I had the creative spirit and passion for art inherited by my father, but I didn’t consider myself a painter, so my paint brushes were left mostly unbrushed.
When I found dot painting (or perhaps it found me) I felt like I had come home.
Dot painting gives me the opportunity to follow this art as a journey – just like my dad did. It is deeply meditative, creative, beautiful, simple, and helps me to stay grounded while my perfectionism and anxiety sit down for tea!
My first dot painting was nothing near perfect and at first, this felt frustrating to a die-hard perfectionist! But I stuck with it, because I just knew there was something magical, healing and liberating about this process. As I continued to practice I began to fell that sense of joy and bliss I was seeking and I was "hooked".
These feelings are the reason why I am so passionate about sharing the art of dot painting with my community. I have gone from hesitant - yet - curious student to ARTIST, painter, teacher and creator of Blissful Dots.
Being able to share my passion for dot painting with others through custom pieces, teaching patterns and DIY kits is a dream come true. I am excited to be on this journey of "spreading joy one dot at a time".
Each dot carries not just color but intention, inspiration, healing an a connection to something greater. It's a meditation, a form of storytelling, and a celebration of life's infinite possibilities.
There is joy, bliss, and freedom awaiting you within every drop of paint. I invite you to dive into this meditative and enchanting art with me.
It is an honor to be on this creative journey with you.

Studies show that just an hour of creative activity reduces your stress levels and has a positive effect on your self-esteem and mental health! Dotting encourages you to ‘slow down, breathe and focus”. It is a meditative creative outlet that doesn’t require and special painting skills or artistic ability to get started. Be warned though, it is totally and completely addictive.
Benefits of Dotting
This therapy can help one to declutter the mind. Scientists believe that adults engaged in this art therapy have the probability to rediscover their creative spark and implement them in their lives.
Mandalas, meaning "circles" in Sanskrit, are sacred symbols that are used for meditation, prayer, healing and art therapy for both adults and children. Mandalas have been shown in clinical studies to boost the immune system, reduce stress and pain, lower blood pressure, promote sleep and ease depression.
Each person’s life is like a mandala – a vast, limitless circle. We stand in the center of our circle, and everything we see, hear and think forms the mandala of our life.
